Get creative, describe your services and what you do in your work without using your title
I’m a qualified Yogic Breathwork and Yogic Meditation Teacher with a special love for Yoga Nidra. Sometimes called Yogic Sleep, Yoga Nidra is one of the easiest and most transformational practices available; helping you relax and release, while also resetting your nervous system, your sleep cycle, and effectively helping you rewrite your neurological programming.
I deeply believe in the power of meditation as a way of creating greater flow and ease within our lives and awakening a sense of inspiration and joy. I’m passionate about prompting and awareness of the changing landscapes that exist within ourselves, the language of our body, mind and spirit, and sharing a toolkit of meditation and breathwork practices that can easily be drawn on to attend to our inner needs.
"Through sharing my skills in meditation and also through my medicinal mushroom business Inner Altas I truly hope I'm making a small difference to empowering people to take an active role in their everyday physical, mental and emotional health."
What is your superpower?
I've been told I have a very soothing, almost hypnotic voice :)
Describe the moment in your life when you realised that what you are doing today is your true calling / gift?
The first time I experienced Yoga Nidra through one of my mentors I knew my path had crossed with something incredibly powerful and I was just so excited to share it. Nothing I've ever come across is so immediately state altering and I truly believe the practice has the potential to do so much good in often stress-laden lives.
What impact do you hope your work has on the world?
Gentle support to those who may be going through challenging times mentally, physically and spiritually and also assisting those I'm working with to tap into that unlimited potential we all have within.
What is Yoga Nidra and Why is It Beneficial?
Yoga Nidra literally means yogic sleep. It is an ancient technique where the practitioner enters the deep states of conscious relaxation. It is a systematic practice of moving awareness from our external world to the inner world. It brings us to a state of deep sleep where our senses, intellect, and mind relax.
Improved Thought Patters
The practice creates physical and mental activities that change brain waves to release emotional tension, slow down the nervous system, and allow muscles to relax. This triggers a relaxation response, naturally reducing stress in the body and mind. Alleviating mental and bodily stress can also relieve headaches and muscle tension. Thought patterns are neural connections that have strengthened over time. The strength of these connections makes changing the patterns very challenging - it is comparable to retraining a muscle.
Yoga Nidra trains the brain to access thought patterns from a completely different perspective by entering an altered state of conscious awareness. Rather than being thoroughly ingrained in your thoughts, you are able to observe them from a distance. This new point of view allows you to retrain your thought patterns.
Enhanced Cognitive Performance
Yoga Nidra practice improves your cognitive function by creating space in the brain. It does this by helping reduce stress. When the brain is overwhelmed with emotions, the mind has little room to perform activities of daily living well. By reducing stress, the brain has more freedom to function at its full capacity.
Better Sleep & General Health
Yoga Nidra is highly effective for improving your sleep quality and schedule. It helps you obtain regular sleep patterns by allowing you to fall asleep faster at night, makes staying asleep more effortless, and enables you to achieve a whole night’s rest. In addition, it helps treat sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep deprivation.
Through frequent practice and learning how to relax the body and mind, you can calm the brain and body to enhance your sleep cycle. Accessing a deep sleep state is crucial in improving physical health and wellbeing. Please read our articles on sleep to learn more.
Improved Mindfulness
Mindfulness is our quality and state of being aware of each moment during our lives. It rejects past and future thinking by living fully in the present moment. Mindful thinking emphasizes acceptance of events happening at the moment rather than judging thoughts or denying what is happening around you.
During yogic sleep, your mind will quiet and enter a sleep-like state. Here, you will recognize when thoughts pop into your head and learn to let them go. The development of more profound awareness will help you integrate mindfulness into your daily life. This will allow you access to an improved waking state.

How Has Your Family Shaped the Way You See the World?
I was lucky enough to grow up in a rural area and the daily life of our family was always interwoven with nature - tending to the garden and the animals. My parents had and continue to have a slow way of living with great appreciation for the little things.
In my later life I've realised I'm at my best when I have the opportunity to slow down a little and savour the simple beauty of life. It allows me to move forward from a place that's more grounded, see the good in those and everything around me and keep front of mind that I always have enough.
How are you growing and learning at this moment in life?
The biggest thing I'm working on at the moment is trying to embody the truth that fulfilment lies within me, not in external things or a sense of achievement.
