Shiitake bursts with amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Long prized in the Orient, traditionally harvested wild in China during the Ming Dynasty, however the Japanese worked out how to cultivate shiitake on logs. The suffix -’take’ means 'fruit of the mushroom' in Japanese and the prefix ‘shii’- refers to the type of tree the mushroom grows on, in this case a Japanese tree similar to birch.Shiitake replenishes Qi, nourishes blood and it is very supportive of the immune system. It's also an amazing anti-ageing mushroom, assisting in preserving the vitality of the skin. It is also an overall restorative, useful in times of healing and convalescence. Sourcing SuperFeast Shiitake is sourced from the Zhejiang and Guizhou regions of China. It is grown exclusively on mature hard broadleaf wood chips, sun dried and carefully water extracted. Contraindications Shiitake is contraindicated for those who are allergic to culinary mushrooms.
